Safeguarding
The Sombornes Preschool is legally obligated to safeguard children from suspected or actual significant harm.
To minimise the risk of abuse within our setting, we have established employment practices and a clear procedure for managing complaints or allegations against any staff member.
All staff members at our Preschool have successfully completed the necessary background checks required to work with children.
We adhere to the Hampshire Safeguarding Procedures and follow the guidance provided by the Local Children's Board. We have systems in place to address and share concerns regarding the welfare of children.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Rebecca Lane, and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Katie Grant.
Prevent Strategy
The Prevent Strategy is a government initiative intended to prevent individuals from becoming involved in terrorism, supporting terrorism, or engaging in extremist behaviours. It:
-
Addresses the ideological challenges posed by terrorism and extremism, as well as the threats from those who promote such views.
-
Offers practical assistance to prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism and ensures they receive appropriate advice and support.
-
Collaborates with various sectors, including education, criminal justice, faith communities, charities, online platforms, and health services.
As part of our commitment to safeguarding and child protection, we fully support the government's Prevent Strategy and implement guidance that helps build resilience against extremism.
